Week of May 21 to May 27, 2012

The new chairs for the #1 chairlift (also known as Lone Spruce Chair) have arrived and are in the parking lot.  We could use a chair painting crew leader.  The plan is to set up a temporary plastic spray booth and drying rack so chairs can be spray painted in a wind-free and dust-free environment.   First job will be to design and build the booth.

We need a crew leader for the “loppers” who clip brush on runs, usually increasing the work later in the summer after the shoots have grown up more.

The chainsaw crew will continue work Tuesday evening on the west side of I Don’t Care.  This crew is going well and accomplishing a lot already.  Meet at 5:00 PM at the bottom of Spruce Lift to sharpen saws until 5:20.   Leave for west side at 5:30.  Call Brian Foley if you have any questions.

Neal Pederson will be leading more Pajarito bike trail work Wednesday night (5/23). We plan to rake down the jump park and lower Muy Loco, finish flagging the DH race course, and possibly chainsawing the Aspen for Trouble connector to Half Aspen.   We’ll meet in the parking lot below the lodge at 5:30pm and drive up but make sure you contact Neal if you’d like to help out in case any plans change (662-1461, np@vicontrols.com).

  1. May 30th: We’re doing more Pajarito bike trail work Wednesday night (5/30). We plan to do some dirt work and raking on the section of Aspen for Trouble that goes between the West Road and Half Aspen which will bring back the easier (less uphill) connector to Half Aspen.

We’ll meet in the parking lot below the lodge at 5:30pm and drive up but make sure you contact me if you’d like to help out in case any plans change (662-1461, np@vicontrols.com).

  2. Note that as of Tuesday, 6/19, chainsaw work on the mountain is prohibited under fire restrictions until we get some rain.
